Large B cell lymphoma
"My family decided to go to Germany for better treatment options and the doctor who specialises in lymphoma was there."
The chemotherapy did not work...
I’m İpek (14) and I got diagnosed with large b cell lymphoma when I was 12.
I had six rounds of chemo but it was unsuccessful, so we went to İstanbul and I had 3 rounds of chemo (Rituxumab+ICE) and then I had an auto transplant, but after the tranplant the tumor started to grow again at day +50.
Travelling to Germany for treatment
So, my family decided to go Germany for better treatment options and the doctor who specialises in lymphoma was there. In Germany, I had a very intense chemo for just 1 round, because after the first round my bone marrow was not working; my lymphocytes and all the other parameters were very low. After 25-30 days they were not increasing and the tumor started to grow. My doctor told me that they are going to give me radiotherapy, brentixumab and an allo transplant. After a month of radiotherapy and brentixumab. My transplant time came and on the 4 th of July I had the donors cell and after 30 days I was free from hospital.
Dealing with the long term side effects...
The doctors told me that I am cancer free and now I am dealing with some long term side effects of the transplant. I had some heart and lung problems, but wit six rounds of high dose steroids they are good now. I am now on steroids for my kidneys because of high creatine levels.
